Quote of the day

"We are shut up in schools and college recitation rooms for ten or fifteen years, and come out at last with a bellyful of words and do not know a thing. "

Do you honestly believe you are speaking for the parents of MSHS? If you do i'd like you to know that you are totally incorrect. By the way I saw that on the page there is a notice on the side bar that states: "PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A NO HATE ZONE". How is calling someone a "putz" non-hateful? While you speak of "respecting diversity" you show hypocrisy since you obviously do not respect the opinion of the people on the other side of the issue. He chose to resign because of his beliefs, I just don't understand why you can not respect that.

Sigh. Yet ANOTHER FALSE ACCUSATION from the gay community. From the article, quoted from the principal:

"High school implies that students joining the club will have chosen to or will choose to engage in sexual activity with members of the same sex, opposite sex, or members of both sexes"

As you can see (if you actually READ the ENTIRE quote) his statement is NOT anti-gay, it is anti-SEX, whether it is straight sex or gay sex. Got it?

Yet ANOTHER example of the gay community crying foul when ZERO anti-gay sentiment exists. Getting really tired of all the crying wolf. And yet ANOTHER example of why the DoS needs to go. There are MUCH, MUCH bigger issues the school and community should be addressing, not some fabricated issue by those with a hidden agenda.

On the NO HATE ZONE comment...What you have encountered is the paradox of the liberal left. What *I* (meaning MtSiParents and most liberal radicals) believe and issues that *I* promote are by DEFINITION embracing and loving and inclusive. {And *I* can use whatever language *I* want to use to describe the other side}.

If however, *THEY* use similar language, *I* will shout them down as the bigoted, hateful and dispiteful people *I* believe and know them to be. In this *I* am fully justified cause after all, *I* am right!

So much for tolerance. Because when the left says tolerance, what they really mean is my way or the highway you stupid idiots!

i think u r using hypothetical semantics here.

the fact of matter is his statement is anti-gay. i respect his decision to resign but his assertions about GSAs are wrong. It does him a serious disservice.

That's just plain mean to start the title of this post "High School Principal resigns ..."

Gosh, you got so many of our hopes up, only to find out the article does not refer to mt si.

How is it that there is a High School named 'IRMO' and we could not manage to name a Middle School 'Vinnup'?

We have been so lucky to have Randy Taylor as our principal. Look what could have happened..... I am so concerned that the rumors about Mr. Taylor are true and he is going to be the fall guy for the debaucle of the day of silence. I mean with over 700 students gone on the day and the huge protestors and all the harrasment that went on in the scool, he might end up "resigning" as well. He came out so strongly at the school board meeting on behalf of the GSA I'm worried they'll give him the boot.

Can we please stay grounded in reality here?
No more harassment occurred on the Day of Silence than what occurs on any other day. It was a good day in school and I have yet to hear any documented evidence to the contrary. Harassment does take place on a regular basis and needs to be addressed but the Day of Silence is part of the solution, not part of the problem, as far as the students are concerned.
If only parents could get on board and explain the value of tolerance and acceptance. What is so threatening or disruptive about 200 kids vowing not to speak unless called upon? The students are accepting of this. The fact that external forces threatened to surrounded the school with '1.000 prayer warriors' resulting in significant law enforcement presence and the suggestion of conflict is what kept students home, not what happened in school.

"An open forum for parents and students of Mt Si high school to discuss academic issues."

WHERE ARE THE DISCUSSIONS ON ACADEMIC ISSUES?

How is calling someone a "putz" non-hateful?

How is calling someone foolish hateful?

He is a foolish man, or a putz, to use another word.

I don't believe you are aware of the translation of the word "putz" in English. Here: Putz-Literally, vulgar slang for penis.

I don't believe you are aware of the translation of the word "putz" in English. Here: Putz-Literally, vulgar slang for penis.

The word Putz is Yiddish and means; a fool; an idiot.

The word was used in this context and further clarifed.

Would you prefer the word Tool?

What a tool!

But wait, that also means;
5. Vulgar Slang A penis

Perhaps every word is slang for penis?

Most of the kids that chose to stay home were (1) not forced by their parents and (2) in disagreement with the DoS and protesting the school, not afraid of either of the protesters.
